seafood sunday [in carmel]

Kate ParrishComment

seafood sunday has been on a small hiatus. i'm ashamed to say it's been over a month – we're sorry, fishies. or i guess we're not sorry? whatever. sunday was spent getting an extra hour of sleep {why does this feel so good?}, eating breakfast on our cute little patio, enjoying one of the cleanest beaches i've seen in california, playing some much needed frescobol, another stop at big sur bakery for lunch outside, and then a whole lot of chillin' in our cottage. i want this to be every sunday.

^^ we got a stump {!!!!!} so we can finally play one of my favorite games taught to me in college by this chick and this chickhowever our rules are a little different than those listed on wikipedia.

underrated fifth of july

Kate ParrishComment

when the fourth falls on a thursday, the fifth of july kinda turns into the new thing.

highlights include: cooking breakfast, accidentally stumbling onto a private beach {thank heavens because the rest of the beaches were hell on earth}, having wet woodys on the patio at garwoods, bbq-ing {again}, and sneaking in to the tainted love concert {we hopped a fence, i'm soo hardcore} with stef while the guys gambled lost money.

^^ if tainted love is playing anywhere near you anytime soon – go.

merriment hardware + alternative apparel

Kate ParrishComment
if it was possible – all of the clothing i owned would be from alternative apparel. that is just a fact. so, you can imagine i was mega stoked to hear of their recent collaboration with my favorite babes from merriment hardware. i can't take cred for the below, as this is just a sample from the blog post which can be found here. i'm so proud of these three!

cheers MH and congrats – you guys are kinda killing it.

huichica festival

Kate ParrishComment

a few weeks back we randomly saw a poster for huichica festival while we were grabbing lunch. when we noticed it was hosted at a winery, by some of our fav restaurants, with some awesome bands {well i hadn't heard of most of them at the time, buuutt thank you spotify playlist!} we thought, why the hell not. *what's up, staycation?*

we started the day by checking into our random {and kinda janky yet cute} little sonoma hotel {it had a pool, so...} and relaxed for a bit. the festival was much smaller than we anticipated – which was a pleasant surprise. no lines, no crowded panic attacks {i'm turning into an old woman}, extremely clean bathrooms, free wine tasting, i mean...... were we in heaven?

throughout the day we had the most delicious bites from bunk sandwiches, salumerianamu gaji {chicken skewers!}, skylite snow balls, and *two bottles* of gundlach bundschu rosé {insert need for aforementioned janky hotel – who could drive home after this freak show?}...

^^we spent most of our day parked on this little mh blanket

after a long day spent in the sun, we finished our night in sonoma at the girl and the fig. this spot was beyond awesome – we sat outside under the heat lamps and next to the fire place enjoying mussels, cheese, and steak tar tar. i know it sounds like all we did was eat and drink all day, but... we also fell in love with some amazing new tunes a perfect sonoma staycation. cheers!

winter scribe

Kate ParrishComment

saturday was one of those days i wish i could just bottle up and keep in my pocket. we started out with breakfast at fraiche, followed by a hike near rodeo beach– we kind of made up our own trail

best breakfast on the planet

next we made our way to sonoma for lunch at our all time fav, fremont diner. i could eat their chicken sliders and macaroni and cheese everyday if it was socially acceptable.

after lunch we quickly changed into winery appropriate clothing for the scribe winter pick up party– i can't believe it has been three months since the harvest party? there were oysters and rose and endless sunshine.

our day ended with my favorite botanical beer and the most amazing cheese plate for dinner at MVBW. cheers and bon appetit!
